As a proud member of the Islas Group of Travel Guides, we're not here to sell you a holiday to Tenerife, we do not operate any form of on-line booking service, and being totally independent from all Travel Agents and Tour Operators we derive no benefit from giving you a glossy tour operators view of the island. Our mission is simple..., to provide you with practical first hand objective advice, from "real" paying visitors to the resorts, hotels and attractions that Tenerife has to offer.

This web site can only be maintained with feed back from your comments. So, if you've already visited the island in the last few months, any help, comments or contributions would be greatly appreciated.

The Canary Islands are a group of seven major islands and six smaller ones in the Atlantic Ocean, lying between 60 - 190 miles off the north western coast of Africa.

Originally the Canaries were only a winter sun destination, but the combination of warm sunshine and fantastic modern holiday development, has put the islands on the map 12 months of the year.

The island is dominated by the giant snow capped volcano Mount Teide, which at 3,700m high is Spain's highest peak. This will be the first sight you see when flying in, and it never ceases to take your breath away!

Mount Teide effectively splits the island in two. The cooler northern part is a lush tropical paradise with banana plantations and palm trees. Here, you will have a number of more cloudy days, and perhaps even a few rain days. In contrast the south of the island is hot and dry with almost a desert like landscape.

Flights to Tenerife from the UK take around 4.1/2 hours, landing at the Reina Sofia International airport in the south of the island. However, since October 2003 both Britannia Airways and GB Airways, a subsidiary of British Airways, also operate 2 flights a week into the magnificent new terminal at Los Rodeos airport in the north. For those of you with a long memory, in 1977 this was the site of a terrible air crash involving two Jumbo Jets, and although for the last 25 years Los Rodeos has remained open, it has since then only handled domestic flights between the islands.
