Part of the prestigious Sol Melia Group of hotels, the 5 star Hotel Gran Melia Bahia del Duque has an enviable position overlooking the Atlantic Ocean towards the island of La Gomera, in the popular resort of Costa Adeje on the south west coast of Tenerife. The hotel is approximately 20km west of the Reina Sofia International Airport, and a few steps from the commercial centre of the resort where you will find a wide selection of bars, restaurants and shops.

Built in 1994 and extensively refurbished during the winter of 2007, which saw the creation of a new 3,500m2 Spa and Wellness centre, the modern low rise Hotel Gran Melia Bahia del Duque has a total of 431 guest rooms, including 383 twin rooms and a further 48 Suites, which are distributed between 20 three storey buildings and set amidst almost 63,000mē of sub-tropical gardens and sun terraces around a large central pool area.

All guest rooms at the hotel are either air conditioned or centrally heated according to the season, and come equipped with a modern "en suite" bathroom with shower and hairdryer, along with a direct dial telephone, ADSL internet access, a satellite television, safety deposit box available for rental, mini bar and either a balcony or terrace, most of which have exterior views over the pool and garden area towards the sea. In addition to the above features, a daily maid service is also provided, undertaking a change of towels as required and change of bed linen twice a week.

In addition to the above, in an exclusive and private area of the hotel grounds, are a further 40 villas, each of which has a private garden and pool, as well as a separate reception area, butler service and access to the exclusive "Goizeko" restaurant which specialises in Basque cuisine.

Guest facilities on offer include a 24 hour reception area with currency exchange services, and both luggage and courtesy rooms for late departures, along with 10 air conditioned buffet and ā la carte restaurants and snack bars with show cooking, offering a choice of traditional Spanish, international and vegetarian menus, as well as a games room, public internet terminals, laundry and medical services and both lounge and pool bars.

For business guests, the Hotel Gran Melia Bahia del Duque also offers the use of a large 3,000 m2 Convention and Congress Center, as well as a further 26 air conditioned conference and meeting rooms, seating up to a maximum of 700 people, all of which are equipped with a selection of modern audio visual aids.

Sporting and leisure facilities available to guests includes 6 large outdoor freshwater swimming pools for adults, as well as a further 2 smaller children's splash pools, and spacious sun terraces and gardens which are furnished with loungers and parasols. Other leisure facilities include a children's playground and mini-club along with 2 flood lit hard surface tennis courts, 2 squash courts, a putting green, jogging track and both pool and table tennis tables.

On the first level guests will find a separate reception, a fitness area and a shop. On the same floor there are two gyms with a stretching and resistance area, as well as a Chi studio where a personal trainer will help you to revitalise your body and your mind. Here you will also find classes of Tai-Chi, Yoga, Pilates and meditation. Both gyms have natural light and open out to a patio with a fountain surrounded by gardens.

The second floor is a more personal and tranquil area, with a separate reception and a consultancy room where the clients who want to focus their stay on the Spa will be able too book a weekly programme. This includes a personal trainer who will help the guests to choose a better dietary plan, the right exercise and the appropriate treatments during their stay.

A bridge leads to the treatment zone, where walls made of basalt rock separate the feminine and masculine areas. Both areas have sauna, cold springs, showers and mud zones, hamman and a heated pool with a bar placed in the exterior patio.

In this relaxation area is where you can contact a therapist who will guide you to the treatment area on the upper floor or the third level with five external cabins and 14 multi-functional treatment rooms, each of them equipped with an external shower and a private patio. The other treatments include thalassotherapy, Vichy massage, hydrotherapy etc. This area also includes two exclusive suites, one double and another individual, each of them with a private patio, a relaxation and treatment area, showers and a bath.
